Catalogue

Definition: The names of cataolguing or identification schemes and the identifers of the resource under those schemes. (FAILTE)
Obligation: Optional
Type of element: Table for guided entries

Entry guidelines

The entry for this element will be used to link the FAILTE record of a resource to records in other catalogues.

The identification schemes currently referred to by FAILTE are:
EEVL record ID numbers
EASEIT-Eng database record numbers
ISBN/ISSN
Of these, EEVL and EASEIT Eng are the more important.

For each of these, the identification code(s) of the resource should be recorded. Space is provided for recording more than one code for all of the schemes, though we anticipate that it is only ISBN where the code for a FAILTE resource will not be unique (e.g. where a CD-ROM is available for more than one platform).

Where a resource in the FAILTE catalogue is catalogued as more than one resource in the other catalogue schemes, then this element should not be used. This may occur where a small collection has been catalogued as a single resource by FAILTE. Similarly, if a single resource in FAILTE is part of a collection that has been catalogued as a whole by another scheme, then this relationship will not be indicated here.
